I was talking to someone the other day and in reference to someone profusely complimenting them she used the phrase "hemorrhaging accolades." I can't say that I've ever heard those 2 words in conjunction before, but I love the imagery.
Language and vocabulary can be so fun and interesting, but I think a lot of people are just lazy about using it. It was refreshing to hear such a phrase, which clearly and vividly portrays the meaning the speaker was trying to get across.
Sometimes I feel like I need to exercise my vocabulary (and literary) muscles a lot more than do. Maybe I'll keep this incident in mind, and look for opportunities to do likewise myself. I used to be into that kind of thing.
