Counting typos

One of my New Year's Resolutions was to reduce my typing errors, so for the last 3 weeks I've been keeping track of every typo or misspelling in chat, IM, or email using my g-talk status message. If I hit enter or send carelessly when I'd typed something wrong, I'd increment the count in my status message, then at the end of the day I would punish myself by doing push-ups - a minimum of 2 per error. This was a sneaky ploy, as I intended to do push-ups and also make fewer typos, so this seemed like a good way to kill maximum birds with minimum stones.

Well, as expected, this made me pay much more attention to what I'm doing when I'm typing, and as a result my typing has gotten better. Also, I have been doing more and more push-ups, the number not really correlating to the typos at all any more, so I think it's time I discontinue the daily typo count. I'm still trying to be mindful of my typing, including these blog posts. Feel free to call me on it when you see an an error!

I intend to continue the push-ups as well, errors or no. But fear not, friends, my g-talk status message will be more entertaining now! :)

For those following along at home...
"hppf kpn@" = "good job!", if you slide your fingers over 1 key to the right.

(Renee, you're so clever!)
