Righting the wrongs?

A while ago I complained about a cell phone ad which referenced Dungeons and Dragons in a way that made fun of the type of person who would play D&D. I'm not a fan of that kid of thing, but to be fair I thought I would point out another ad I've noticed recently - this ad for Pepsi, which features the song One Tribe by the Black Eyed Peas.

The chorus of One Tribe contains the lyric "Let's cast amnesia, forget about all that evil" - a clear reference to a spell in Dungeons and Dragons (which, of course, causes the target to forget things).

This ad (and this song) in no way insults anybody or shows any disrespect, irrespective of their chosen hobbies - no matter how "dorky" they may be. One might say that a positive or passing reference to D&D in mainstream media is exactly the opposite in fact!

I love that the Black Eyed Peas song,"I Got A Feeling" (which just rocks) has "mazel tov" and "l'chiam" in it.
They sure have multi-cultural lyrics, huh? (I don't know that I'd put them in the same list, but I do think "nerd" and "Jew" are both cultures...)

Yeah, I agree with your culture comment.

One thing I may not have made clear in my post... props to Black Eyed Peas for their multiculturalism, but maybe even bigger props to Pepsi for promoting it worldwide in their advertising campaign.
